Sprint planning and estimating on the sub task level
Hello everyone, to enhance the precision of my teams estimations and streamline our planning process, I’m considering implementing subtask-level estimations and setting up automation in Jira to aggregate points to the parent user story. Currently, our estimations are done collectively for front end, backend, and QA tasks within a story. I’d love to hear your thoughts and any feedback on this proposed approach, as well as any past experiences with estimating at the subtask level.

IMO, instead of focusing on estimating, you should focus on achieving the goal. Detailed estimation takes time and the only thing you generate is some meaningless numbers. Instead of wasting time on estimation, the team should be working on something valuable for your users. If it’s hard to plan a sprint this way, just make your iteration shorter. Agile is simple: pick the most valuable thing you can do, deliver it, and repeat.
