Question#

I’m about to be a software PM. Currently, I am enrolled in Google project management course and learned about Gantt chart, roadmap and burndown chart. For experienced software PM, which and when exactly do you use these different methods to track progress? Which one is commonly used and very helpful to track project’s progress?

My suggestion#

Do you really need to track progress? The agile approach is very different from project management. Allen Holub summed this up very well https://holub.com/heuristics/.

You can also make forecasts based on the backlog and PBI estimates. The forecast will change after each iteration as the team learns new things and you have better ideas about how to meet the product goal.
