Scrum X Kanban

Hi there, one of my co-workers asked me an interesting question. Why are we doing Scrum? If you have set deadline (even in the form of the end of the sprint) is it still agile? Isn’t kanban more agile if you just deliver after every small iteration? Why is Scrum so popular in SW development then?

Agility is in the culture, it has nothing to do with the framework you use. You can be agile without Scrum or Kanban, or you can use waterfall with Scrum.
