I’m a Scrum Master and during a daily meeting, a colleague mentioned she had no updates on her status since yesterday, and therefore had nothing to say.

Another colleague, however, asked her to tell her status anyway since he did not participate in the previous daily meeting, since he was taking a day off.

What’s the standard procedure here? Should she repeat her status anyway, or a colleague who was off should ask outside of the daily meeting if he is interested in another one’s status?

PS. If anyone’s curious, the colleague with repeated status said she had no problems repeating, and to avoid conflict at that moment, I allowed it.

No, you’re not, no matter what your job title is. But there is a hope because you can become one. :)

Scrum daily is not a status meeting. It’s a meeting for developers conducted by developers in order to plan the next day of work. They need to figure out how to deliver the most important thing (usually a sprint goal).

I don’t know how they work, but I don’t think they work together. Probably each developer has their own history and I would start to change that. It will be a long way to go.
