Hiring an inexperienced Scrum Master
In this Linkedin thread Thabet wrote why he thinks that hiring a Scrum Master with no experience is a good idea.
Why hiring a new Scrum Master with no experience is a good idea:
- They already have a learning mindset. Open to learning.
- No bad habits yet. You can create great ones.
- The company can retain and grow its talent pool.
- You were one day in their shoes.
- Eager to create value.
What do you think?
My response#
It’s a bad idea. How can someone with no experience change the organisation? No one will listen to them.
There’s nothing wrong with hiring inexperienced people, but don’t put them in a position as difficult as a scrum master. It’s unfair to them and to the people they’ll be working with.
